Family Christmas Party

We had a Christmas party with my moms family a few weeks ago (and yes I am barely blogging it). The theme was Christmas around the world. Each family was assigned a country and we had to bring a food dish and tell a Christmas tradition from that country. It ended with my aunt Wendy telling about Christmas in Iraq, because my Uncle Gregg is there serving in the military. We always do a family service project every year so this year we all brought stuff to put together movie night packages to send to my Uncle and his troops. After dinner, all the kids went on a scavenger hunt that my mom planned. They had little clues hidden all around the house that they had to find, and the last clue led them to the "Reindeer Farm" by my parents house. (non-believers call them elk!) The kids all piled into the back of a truck and found a big red sack of presents that Santa left them on the fence at the farm. It was really cute.

Then it was back to the house for the white elephant present game. It's always pretty funny. My cousin Ruby ended up with the knitted weenie warmer that shows up every year. I got sponge bob slippers that Jack was pretty pumped about.

I would have to say the highlight of the night was everyone getting to talk to my uncle in Iraq. My aunt has video conference on her computer so we got to see him while we talked to him. It was so great. He got to see Halle for the first time. My cute Grandma planted herself in front of the computer and didn't move the whole time! It was a fun night spent with loved ones. I am so thankful for my family!
